History
In 1986 Charley Shin was able to turn his entrepreneurial dream into a reality when he opened his first restaurant called Charleys Steakery, a 450-sqft space near The Ohio State University’s campus. The restaurant became an instant community hit through crave-able offerings like Charleys signature Philly Cheesesteak, Gourmet Fries, and Fresh Lemonades. As customers and rave reviews rolled in, Charley worked to grow and share his brand with customers in Columbus, OH and beyond. In 1991, Charley began franchising his concept to accelerate growth in new markets. Our brand found early success in mall food courts, military bases. Recently our growth has expanded into strip-centers, free-standing, fuel centers, and select Walmart locations. This is how we quickly became and will continue to be a leader within the cheesesteak category with a nationwide presence. Today, Charleys Philly Steaks continues to grow with over 700+ Charleys locations in 47 states.
