About Shuckin' Shack
A visit to any of our 20+ Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bars will immediately transport you back to great times on the beach, summer vacations and long weekends spent with truly great friends. The vibe is laid back, coastal and friendly, the prices are right and the seafood is FRESH. Even it it’s your very first time at “The Shack” our staff will treat you like a local to make sure it’s an experience that you and your family will never forget.
Our Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bars routinely win awards within their local markets for being on board with sustainability and community involvement. While we are most certainly a “bar” and seafood restaurant, we are absolutely family friendly and consistent sponsors of youth sports teams of all types. Many of our dedicated customers might think of us a sports bar, with just about every sports TV package imaginable available, but we believe it’s our dedicated service and great menu that keeps our “Locals” coming back, week after week.
Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bars take up very little retail space (1,800 - 2,800 square feet) and staffing is also significantly reduced compared to other seafood franchises and sports bar opportunities. We LOVE to have outdoor patio spaces for our customers and live music performances. And, believe it or not, we do not need to be in coastal cities - customers hundreds of miles inland truly appreciate the coastal vibe we can bring to midwestern states, like Illinois, as well as the east coast!

Why Choose Shuckin' Shack?
One of the major advantages of opening a Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar in your neighborhood is most likely a true lack of competition. Many towns will have fancy seafood restaurants, with white linen tablecloths and candles on the table. Some also have quick service seafood restaurants with imported seafood that is deep-fried and served like fast-food. But where can you get fresh oysters and cold beers served by people who actually care?
Because our restaurant spaces are fairly small (1,800 - 2,800 square feet) we are able to keep rents low and staff is fairly minimal as well, especially when compared to national seafood restaurants. Our extensive training program can take someone without any hospitality background and turn them into the best “Shucker” in town. And everyone starts off with our educational system, called “Shuck U” when the franchise agreement is signed.
And because most restaurants either thrive or bare survive due to their location, we get very hands on in helping you target the best space for your own Shuckin’ Shack. We also provide in-depth demographic, geographic and psychographic information that makes our collaborative site selection process something that’s blankets each target market completely.

History
Once upon a time, back in 2007, Shuckin’ Shack co-Founders Matt Piccinin and Sean Cook had a craving for fresh oysters. Living in the sleepy coastal town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, they figured it shouldn’t be too hard to find an oyster bar, right? WRONG.
Realizing they’d stumbled onto an unmet need in their local restaurant and bar scenes, Matt and Sean hatched a plan to open their own fresh oyster bar and seafood restaurant. Through cases of beer and plans scrawled on napkins, the pair’s dream materialized as a 960-square-foot monument to domestic seafood, cold beer, and laid-back fun for the locals who would flock to it upon opening.
Shuckin’ Shack was an instant hit with the locals, but things didn’t really get cooking until Jonathan Weathington joined the crew in 2014, quickly becoming the CEO and getting the bar and grill off the ground as a franchise ownership opportunity.
